Judy W. Cheng, PA-CMs. Judy Cheng, MPAS, PA-C is a certified physician assistant (PA-C). Physician assistants are medical providers formally trained to practice medicine with physician supervision.
The 30,000 PAs practicing nationwide can be found in every medical and surgical specialty, including dermatology. Physician assistants have been practicing with dermatologists for twenty years, providing a wide variety of services, including diagnosing illness, writing prescriptions, ordering and interpreting lab tests, wound suturing, and medical or surgical treatment of a wide variety of clinical pathology. All physician assistants are legally and ethically bound to practice only with supervision by their employing physician.
Ms. Cheng completed her undergraduate work at The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill earning a biology degree with a concentration in Cell Biology Research. She graduated magna cum laude from the PA program at Medical College of Pennsylvania Hahnemann University, one of the oldest and most established PA programs in the nation. She has also furthered her education by obtaining a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies with a concentration in dermatology from the University of Nebraska. Ms. Cheng previously worked at a dermatology practice in Pennsylvania for 2.5 years. Most recently, she practiced pediatric dermatology at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, nationally ranked #1 in pediatrics by US News and World Report.
To remain certified, Ms. Cheng must complete 100 hours of Continuing Medical Education (CME) every two years and pass a national recertification examination every six years. Ms. Cheng has experience in managing and treating skin conditions, such as acne, contact dermatitis, eczema, and psoriasis, to name a few. She also performs laser therapy, sclerotherapy, Botox, fillers, biopsies, surgical excisions, and skin cancer screening.
She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, licensed by the California State Board of Medicine, and holds membership in the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.
